Day 01
Upon arrival in Sri Lanka transfer to the city of Negombo which is only a few minute drive from the international airport. Negombo is a number one tourist attraction in Sri Lanka located just about one hour north of the capital city of Sri Lanka, Colombo and is a place where you will be able to explore the cultural and the colonial heritage of Sri Lanka. Here you will have a full relaxing day preparing yourself for the adventure ahead. Also you will be spending your first night in this marvellous city of Negombo.
Day 02
On the second day after breakfast, head on to Dambulla to visit the Cave temple. Also on the way, stopping by Pinnawala to visit the world famous elephant orphanage. Here you have the opportunity to see about 60-80 elephants at once.The Dambulla Cave temple is also a must see location with its rock ceiling covered in one large sweep of colourful frescoes, some of which dates back to over 2,000 years. This cave temple has the largest number of Buddha statues all housed in one place, including a 14 metre figure of the recumbent Buddha carved out of the rock. You will be spending your second night in this ancient city.
Day 03
On the third day you will be travelling to Sigiriya which is only a 20 minute drive from Dambulla in order to climb the magnificent Sigiriya Rock, one of Sri Lanka’s fascinating UNESCO World Heritage Sites. After lunch, head on to the Minneriya national park that covers a total area of 8890 hectares.The Minneriya national park is famous for bird watching, wild elephants as it is known to be a meeting place of Asian elephants in the world. It offers something of a change of scenery for everyone and is an ideal Eco tourist destination in Sri Lanka that will capture your hearts for sure. Afterwards travel back to the hotel in Dambulla where you will be spending your 3rd night.
Day 04
After checking out from the hotel travel straight to Polonnaruwa as it is only a 1 hour drive from Dambulla. It has become Sri Lanka’s royal medieval capital in 1073 and remained Sri Lanka’s second kingdom until the late 13 century. Even today, the ancient city’s ruins remain and is a fascinating site to visit. Afterwards travel straight to Nilaveli. It is a number one tourist attraction of Sri Lanka with its shallow and clear water therefore perfect for swimming, snorkelling as well as scuba diving. You will be spending your 4th night here.
Day 05
On the 5th day rise early (5.50-6.10 am) to see the perfect view of the beautiful sunrise. After breakfast travel to Trincomalle which is only a 15 minute drive from Nilaveli. Here you have the chance to explore this marvellous city, including the main highlights, for example hot water springs, the natural harbour, famous Kovils, white coloured beaches etc.. Also, your 5th night will be spent here.
Day 06
On the 6th day after breakfast travel to Kandy which is approximately a 128 km journey from Nilaveli. On the way we will be stopping by Matale to visit the famous Herbal and Spice market and also to have lunch. After arriving in Kandy, you have the opportunity to explore this beautiful Kandy city and also to see the Kandy cultural dance at 5’o clock in the evening which goes for about an hour. This is also where you will be spending your night in a luxury hotel.
Day 07
On your 7th day after breakfast visit the Temple of the Tooth. It is one of the most venerable places for the Buddhist community of Sri Lanka as well as all around the world. But before leaving Kandy, you have the opportunity to do shopping in this beautiful city and also to explore the city one last time. Afterwards, you will travel to Nuwara Eliya. On the way you will have the chance to explore the royal botanical garden of Kandy. Also natural waterfalls, tea state visit and many other scenic locations. After arriving in Nuwara Eliya you will be checking into a luxury hotel of your choice and in the evening explore the city of Nuwara Eliya. It is the coldest part of the country as it is 5000 feet above sea level and the temperature here is pleasantly warm during the day and cool at night so of course you will need warm clothes.
Day 08
On the 8th day rise early and visit the Horton Plains, Ambewela New Zealand milk factory and strawberry farms. Afterwards, return to the Nuwara Eliya City and the rest of the day will be spent in the Golf club where you will be able to play a bit of golf, however this is an option. You will also be spending your 8th night in Nuwara Eliya.
Day 09
After breakfast travel down to Udawalawa. On the way we will be organising a (world famous) train journey for you which is from Nuwara Eliya to Ella in order to experience and enjoy the beautiful uphill nature of Sri Lanka. This is about a 3 hour long train journey. Ella city however is also another major tourist attraction and is in between Nuwara Eliya and Udawalawa. You will be picked up from Ella and drive straight to Udawalawa which is only a 1 hour and 45 minute drive. Here you will be relaxing and spending your 9th night in a luxury hotel of Udawalawa national park.
Day 10
On the 10th day experience an elephant safari in the morning. Here you have the opportunity to see the bottle feeding of elephants as it is a main highlight of the Udawalawa national park and is perfect for wildlife enthusiasts. Also, this is where you will be having lunch. Afterwards proceed to Galle which is about a 2 hour and 45 minute drive. In the evening a visit to the Dutch Fort where you will be able to observe a perfect view of the sunset. Your 10th night will be spent in this beautiful city of Galle.
Day 11
Whale & Dolphin safari in the morning. Also a quick visit to the turtle farm near Galle and on the way you will have the chance to see still fisherman. After arriving at Unawatuna beach you will have lunch on a beach hotel and back to the hotel. Your 10th night will be spent in the city of Galle again.
Day 12
On the 12th day you will experience a half day village tour in Galle. This is about a 1 hour long boat ride to the village through the river. Here you have the opportunity to explore the village and the natural environment,including bird watching by a foot bicycle. The time for the tour will depend according to your preferences. While you are here you will have the opportunity to taste and learn to cook a Sri Lankan style lunch. After lunch ,head down to Bentota that has a long beach that makes it a number one tourist attraction of Sri Lanka. You will be checking into a luxury hotel of your choice and will spend the night here.
Day 13
In the morning, a visit to the Lunu Ganga as the Lunuganga Estate was the country home of the renowned Sri Lankan architect Geoffrey Bawa ,who is known as one of the most important and influential Asian architects of the twentieth century. In the afternoon, experience a river boat safari of Madu River. This is approximately a 1 hour long boat journey which includes a fish spa where you will be able to relax even more. If want fishing in Madu River is also possible. Your 2nd last night will be spent here in Bentota again.
Day 14
On your final day you will be travelling straight to Colombo where you will have the opportunity to explore the city. However the city tour will depend on the departure time. Afterwards you will say goodbye to this beautiful country and will proceed to the airport for departure. We hope your stay in Sri Lanka was an unforgettable experience filled with happy as well as fun memories.
